Having a healthy white smile isn’t a recent cultural obsession. In fact, our Homo erectus ancestors had their own toothpicks to clean their teeth. Proper brushing and flossing does more for us than just give us a nice clean smile. Daily flossing can help prevent gum disease which is also tied to heart disease and Type 2 diabetes. If you skip out on your daily flossing and brushing your chances for heart disease increase by 70 percent! That is a pretty simple habit to create that will go a long way but yet only 85 percent of men and 65 percent of women floss daily. Also, 91 percent of people use their toothbrush for a total of nine months before swapping it out for a new one. Dentists recommend replacing your toothbrush every two months!
