Traditional braces are used to correct misaligned jaws, crooked teeth and/or a misaligned bite as recommended by a dentist or Orthodontist. Traditionally, braces were made with metal brackets and wires that give wearers the label “metal-mouth”, but with advancement in materials and technologies modern brackets are now smaller and less noticeable. Heat-activated archwires are also used in this application, which uses the patient’s body heat to help teeth move at a faster pace with less pain and facilitating more ease and comfort during the correction process.

We know that you are wondering when you will be able to remove your braces and show off your new smile This can vary depending on each individual case, health of teeth and gums, distance the teeth must move and how closely the patient follows instructions given by an Orthodontist, the average patient will wear the braces for one to three years.
They are more aesthetically pleasing solutions to straighten teeth such as Invisalign, but traditional braces are simply more cost effective. Traditional braces don’t restrict any sporting activities and the different color bands offer a level of customization.
Patients will need to visit their Orthodontist monthly to ensure that the braces are exerting sufficient tension on the teeth for correction; to create additional tension the Orthodontist will adjust the wires, spring or the rubber bands.
